Fire Instenk is committed to making every event and every page of our website accessible to everyone.
This page outlines the accessibility features available on our website and at our events, and explains how to request accommodations. If you need support that isn't covered here, please don't hesitate to contact us directly — we will always do our best to help. Fire Instenk (Company Registration No. 16917538) is based in Brixton, South London, UK and is committed to compliance with the Equality Act 2010 and WCAG 2.1 AA web accessibility standards.
Fire Instenk is committed to making our events, website, and services accessible to everyone — regardless of disability, impairment, or access need. We believe that live music and cultural experiences should be available to all, and we work continuously to remove barriers that may prevent people from fully participating in what we do.
This Accessibility page is for anyone who has a disability, long-term health condition, or access need — including physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, neurodivergent conditions, and mental health conditions. We also welcome carers, personal assistants, and companions who support attendees with access needs.
We recognise that accessibility is an ongoing journey, not a destination. We regularly review our practices, seek feedback from disabled attendees, and work with our venue partners to improve the experience at every event. If you encounter any barriers, please tell us — your feedback directly shapes how we improve.
Our website is designed to be compatible with leading screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), and TalkBack (Android). We use semantic HTML elements, meaningful alt text on all images, and ARIA labels where necessary to ensure screen reader users can navigate and understand all content on our site.
All interactive elements on the Fire Instenk website — including navigation menus, buttons, forms, and links — are fully accessible via keyboard. You can navigate using the Tab key to move forward, Shift+Tab to move backward, Enter or Space to activate elements, and arrow keys within menus and dropdowns. Focus indicators are clearly visible throughout.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio standards across all text and interactive elements. Body text is set at a minimum of 14px, and we avoid using colour alone to convey information. If you find any area of our site difficult to read, please contact us and we will address it promptly.
Our website is fully responsive and supports browser-level text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality. You can use your browser's built-in zoom controls (Ctrl/Cmd + or -) or your operating system's accessibility settings to adjust text size to your preference.
We respect the 'prefers-reduced-motion' browser setting. If you have enabled reduced motion in your operating system or browser, animations and transitions on our website will be minimised or disabled to reduce the risk of triggering vestibular disorders or discomfort.
Video content published on our website and social media channels is captioned where possible. We are working towards providing transcripts for all audio and video content. If you require a transcript for a specific piece of content, please contact us at info@fireinstenk.com.
All Fire Instenk events are held at venues that meet UK accessibility standards. Our primary venues — Brixton Electric, Brixton Jamm, and Pop Brixton — all offer step-free access, accessible toilets, and designated viewing areas for wheelchair users and those who cannot stand for extended periods.
Wheelchair users and those with mobility impairments are warmly welcomed at all our events. Accessible entrances are clearly signposted and staffed. Dedicated wheelchair spaces are available in viewing areas with good sightlines to the stage. Please contact us in advance so we can ensure the best possible placement and experience for you.
All our venues provide accessible toilet facilities. These are located on the same level as the main event space where possible. Radar key-operated facilities are available at some venues — please ask a member of staff if you need assistance. Baby changing facilities are also available at most venues.
Hearing loop systems are available at selected venues. Please check the specific event listing or contact us in advance to confirm availability. We can also arrange for British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation at events upon request — please give us at least 14 days' notice to arrange this.
Our events may use strobe lighting, smoke machines, and high-volume audio. We always publish advance notice of strobe usage in event listings. If you have a photosensitive condition or sensory sensitivity, please contact us before attending so we can advise on the best areas of the venue and any available accommodations.
We endeavour to provide a designated quiet space at our events for attendees who need a break from the main event environment. This is particularly important for neurodivergent attendees, those with anxiety, or anyone who needs a moment away from the crowd. Please ask a member of staff to direct you to the quiet space.
If you require a personal assistant or carer to attend with you, they may be admitted free of charge or at a reduced rate. Please contact us at info@fireinstenk.com before purchasing tickets to arrange this. We ask that you provide brief details of your access need so we can ensure the right support is in place.
We encourage all attendees with access needs to contact us before the event so we can prepare appropriately. You can reach our access team by emailing info@fireinstenk.com with the subject line 'Access Request' or by calling 0333 533 1515. Please include your name, the event you are attending, and a brief description of your access need.
To help us provide the best support, please let us know: the nature of your access need (you do not need to disclose a diagnosis), whether you will be bringing a personal assistant or carer, any specific equipment you use (e.g. wheelchair, hearing aid, communication device), and any other information you feel is relevant. All information is treated in strict confidence.
We aim to respond to all access requests within 5 working days. For events within 7 days, we will endeavour to respond within 24–48 hours. If you have not heard from us, please follow up by phone on 0333 533 1515. We strongly recommend contacting us at least 7 days before the event to allow adequate preparation time.
On arrival, please make yourself known to a member of our front-of-house team, who will be briefed on your requirements. We have dedicated access staff at all events who can assist with entry, seating, and any needs that arise during the event. Do not hesitate to approach any member of staff wearing a Fire Instenk lanyard.
All our venues have Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) for disabled attendees. When you contact us in advance, we will ensure the venue team is aware of your needs and that an appropriate evacuation plan is in place. Please also make yourself known to a member of staff on arrival so they can brief you on the nearest accessible exit.
Accessible tickets, including companion/carer tickets, can be booked by contacting us directly at info@fireinstenk.com or by calling 0333 533 1515. We do not currently offer a fully automated accessible ticketing flow online, but our team is available to assist you through the booking process personally.
Registered disabled attendees who require a personal assistant or carer to attend are entitled to one complimentary companion ticket per event. Proof of disability (such as a PIP award letter, Blue Badge, or equivalent) may be requested. Please contact us to arrange this before purchasing your own ticket.
While our standard policy is no refunds, we will consider refund requests from disabled attendees where an access need cannot be accommodated at a specific event. Such requests must be made in writing to info@fireinstenk.com with supporting information. Each case is reviewed individually and with compassion.
Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve accessibility at Fire Instenk events and on our website. Whether your experience was positive or you encountered a barrier, we want to hear from you. Please email info@fireinstenk.com with the subject line 'Accessibility Feedback'.
If you feel your access needs were not met at one of our events or on our website, please raise a formal complaint by emailing info@fireinstenk.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to provide a full response within 20 working days. We take all accessibility complaints seriously and will investigate thoroughly.
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility complaint, you may seek advice from the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) or contact Citizens Advice. The Equality Act 2010 protects disabled people from discrimination, and we are committed to upholding these rights at all times.
